FREE DENTAL SEMINARS
For the last several months Dr. Bonnick and his staff have held free dental seminars, at The Aristotle Institute, to help those with dental phobias overcome their fears. The seminars have been a wonderful asset to our lives and the lives of our patients, as they are able to learn first hand what causes the phobias, and how to overcome them. Dr Bonnick takes time to introduce his staff to new visitors, and even offers exciting door prizes.
If you have not been for a visit to our learning annex please come to the next seminar and see, what fun we are, for your self! I guarantee you won’t have the fun you have here at any other learning facility! Come and get happy, we can’t wait to meet YOU!
DENTISTRY FROM THE HEART-2ND ANNUAL EVENT
On February 19, 2010 our office is holding an event called “Dentistry From the Heart.” The purpose of the event is to provide free dentistry to those who need it the most. These are patients not covered under Medicaid or Insurance plans who lost a job due to the tough economy. Our practice is providing a filling, cleaning, or extraction to the patients of our practice and also patients referred to us by Guilford County Adult Dental Program, House of Prayer and many others. Our last “Dentistry With a Heart” event was held April 13, 2009. It was an amazing day and the feelings we got from the patients made us feel like “a part of the solution, not a part of the problem.” The staff felt that one way we could show gratitude to the community for helping our practice achieve leadership status was through this volunteer dental service. Dr. Bonnick believes in giving to those who have helped us be successful, and to those truly in need. The philosophy is giving to those in need not “giving back.” As a forward looking office we look forward to being able to help more people in the future.We found this submission on MSNBC.com, and thank our patients for noticing and encouraging our involvement in the community.

UNC-CHAPEL HILL LECTURE ON SEDATION DENTISTRY
Dr. Bonnick presented a lecture at the UNC-Chapel Hill on “Sedation General Dentistry” on April 18, 2009. He was invited to speak there by Dr. Southerland President of the Old Northstate Dental Society. The lecture is open to Dentists and Dental Students of the area, and it was an attempt to get more dentists to offer sedation services in their practices.
IMPLANT DENTAL CLASS AT THE OFFICE ON OCTOBER 2, 2009
Our office will have an Over-The-Shoulder Training course on Implant placement and prosthetics complete with patient who volunteered to enhance the learning process of the participants. DR. BONNICK’S TABLE CLINIC ON BONE EXPANSION IN THE ANTERIOR MAXILLA PLACES IN THE TOP THREE AT THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF IMPLANT DENTISTRY ANNUAL CONVENTION IN NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA NOVEMBER15-18, 2009
“The information I presented helps many patient to avoid an additional surgical site healing when bone is removed from the chin. This technique of bone expansion was created by Dr. Hilt Tatum and published by Dr. Borgner et. al in the Journal of Oral Implantology. I like the fact that the patient’s own limited bone is used and expanded to accommodate a special D implant created by Dr. Tatum, the doctor controls the preparation for the replacement tooth by preparing the specially prepared coronal part of the implant.”
This was the first time Dr. Bonnick entered the table clinic competition and we will see further use of this advanced technique as more clinicians spend time and effort learning the appropriate skills with the help of mentors trained in the technique.
DR. BONNICK RECEIVES THE TOP AWARD IN THE DENTAL ORGANIZATION FOR CONSCIOUS SEDATION
On December 5, 2009 Dr. Bonnick was awarded the Diplomate in The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation in Atlanta Georgia. This award represents the highest credential given by the organization for exceptional interest in the advancement of Conscious Sedation Dentistry. The Diplomate award is given to those members who have accomplished the requirements for the Fellowship Award in the organization as well as publishing two articles completing and recording two hundred sedation cases as well as being interviewed by the Board, and having two letters of recommendation.
HELPING HANDS EVENTS GETS SUPPORT FROM OUR DENTAL OFFICE
A non-profit organization that have a teaching program after school to assist in the education of children. The enhancement of their education includes additional work for students that are doing really well and for those who are struggling a bit. The facility accommodates students from the newborn in the daycare section to adolescent. The organization had an open house on November 7, 2009.
UPCOMING BOOK ON DENTAL SEDATION TO BE PUBLISHED IN 2010
Dr. Bonnick new book on overcoming dental fear will be published in 2010. The book outlines strategies of dealing with dental fear and getting your treatment done. Using his years of experience with treating dental fear and treating people with dental fear this book should help those people struggling with the dental experience. DR. BONNICK RECEIVES THE VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD FROM THE ORGANIZATION FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ON MAY 2, 2010 AT THE VIP COUNTRY CLUB IN NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK

(OID). OID is concerned not only with the health care and economic needs of the poor but also with their training, educational and employment needs; so that they may be better able to provide for themselves and their families.
