Rheumatoid Arthritis and Gum Disease – Yes There is a Connection!
According to a recent study done on animals in South Australia (by Mark Bartold, Ph.D), there could be a connection to the severity of periodontal disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The studies being done in Bartold’s lab will aid in discovering whether the reduction of periodontal inflammation improves the disease activity of Rheumatoid Arthritis (Kirkner). What these studies will do for dentists and doctors is help them to provide better treatment recommendations for their patients. Continue reading

Healthy Gums for Healthy Hearts

FDA examines Amalgam fillings, are they safe?
The FDA is holding a dental advisory board December 14th and 15, 2010 to evaluate amalgam regulations. In the panel the FDA will focus on the possible risks to pregnant women, and young children.
